Captains Guide- Ice and Rain Flashcards
Differences in the Airframe Fast/Slow for the boots?
The fast/slow switch changes the dwell time for the boots.
What are the Hot Five (4 in the 300)
Hot Five are 5 anti-icing devices turned on before flight.
Pitot 1 and 2, Stall transducer 1 and 2 and windshield to warm up.
300 loses the stall transducers, uses AOA vanes, which are always hot.
What is the difference between the prop heat timers?
There is a 1 and 2 setting, but they function the same.
The prop timer has an Above -10 and Below -10 setting. What changes?
Changes the heating duration of the props from 10 seconds to 20 seconds. Dwell remains 1 minute.
Prop heat functions using 115 vac power. Will it work on the ground?
It will test on the ground, it will not work. Inhibited by WOW to PSEU.
When does the engine intake heat function?
Engine intake heat functions using 115 vac power when:
- Intake doors are open
- Engines are running (oil pressure switch)
- Temp is around 10-15c (not an absolute)
Deice boots are operated how?
Deice boots are 18 psi consumers.
What does the ISO valve do?
ISO valve isolates deice boot system so that a failure does not affect the whole deice system.
PITOT HEAT caution?
Means the system has failed or turned off with DC power available.
How are the stall transducers heated?
28v DC on the ground and 115 VAC in the air.
Elevator horn heat is 115 vac. What if the caution illuminates?
Elevator horn heat has malfunctioned.
