Cabin Pressurization Flashcards
Isobaric system
Aircraft pressurization maybe regulated by maintaining a constant cabin pressure as altitude increases
Isobaric-differential system
Unpressurized until a preset cabin pressure is reached. Once reached the isobaric function of the system maintains a constant pressure within the cabin until a selected pressure differential is attained
Advantages of pressurization systems
Reduced probability of decompression sickness and hypoxia. Reduced need for supplemental oxygen below 10,000 feet. Reduced expansion of G.I. trapped gas.
Controls Cabin temperature humidity and ventilation. Allows movement of crew and passengers. Protects the sinuses and middle ears from sudden pressure increases
Disadvantages of a pressurization system
Decompression, increased aircraft weight and additional design engineering, decreased performance and payload, increased maintenance, control of cabin air contamination
Types of decompression
Slow and rapid
