Put key into key switch and turn to on
What else happens when you turn the key to on?
Marker lights go to white as long as they are in the Auto position
What speed does the Holding Brake automatically apply?
0.5 kmh
How does the Holding Brake release?
Automatically when you put MCH into power position
What are the Cab Lighting positions?
Off
Cab - Flourescent

Taco Bypass

When the following are defective:

When is the Bypass position on the Tacho Bypass switch used?
If Tachometer Speed Sensors have failed and train can’t register that it is stationary. It is used to allow the following equipment to function:
Doors release
Uncouple button
Trip reset
Safety Loop reset (during train rescue)
- Speedo may also fail
When is the Door Loop Bypass key switch used?
When train has FDCL and can’t get traction power.
Turn Door Loop bypass switch to isolate
Detrain passengers
Shunt to nearest siding
What does the Holding Brake Button do?
For fault finding.
If pressed Holding Brake remains applied allowing traction power without the train moving.
Press for 2 seconds or until traction power detected - whichever comes first
How often does the M.A.D. emit a tone?
30 seconds
What does the Trailing Panto Control button do?
Raises and lowers Panto on trailing unit (if attached)
How do you lower the Trailing Panto?
MC Key in Master Key Switch
Turn switch on (cab active)
Push Trailing Panto Control button
The trailing Panto will lower and push button will illuminate.
How do you raise the Trailing Panto?
Push and release the Trailing Panto Control button
Button will return to Latched-OUT position
Trailing Panto will raise and pushbutton light will extinguish
How does Local Panto Control Button work?
Same way as Trailing button but works on local Pantograph
What status does the train have to be in for the Uncouple button to work?
MC Key must be IN and ON (cab active) in a centre cab
No other cab must be active
What does the Duplex gauge indicate?
Main Reservoir and Brake Pipe pressure
When will there be BP pressure?
Only wen EMS switch is in positions
3, 4 or 5 (rescuing/being rescued)
What does red needle indicate?
What does black needle indicate?
RED - Main Res.
BLACK - BP
What two status lights will illuminate in an inactive cab?
High Voltage presence (green)

- On-line Holding Brake Inhibit (disables
operation of Holding Brake) - Normal
- Rescued
- Rescuing - Non-electrically rescuing.
Pushing or pulling another Xtrap.
Pulling other train types - Rescuing in Propulsion - Non-electrically
rescuing other train types by pushing
What positions does the Trip Cock Device Switch have?
LOWER
RAISED
RESET
How does the Trip Cock Device switch work?
Cab is made active
Trip Switch placed to LOWER, then to RESET and released (goes back to lower)
This resets the Trip Cock Device
What speed does the train have to be going to reset the Trip?
Below 0.5 kmh
How do you raise the Trip?
Turn Trip Cock switch to RAISED
and/or
Automatically raises when MC Key is removed from the MC
What does the Battery Voltmeter show and what does it need to indicate?
Shows level of battery power
Needs to be minimum of 90v

Door Emergency Release mechanism
HVAC fault lights
Saloon Door Motor isolation Switches
Where are Door Emergency Release handles located?
Doors 2 and 5
What do you do if one gets activated?
Stop at next platform and reset it using Tri-key
Book TMM - Emergency Door Handle seal broken
Where are HVAC fault lights located?
A Side to the left of Door 2
What do the HVAC fault lights indicate?
Extinguished - AC good
Illuminated will indicate which unit is inoperative.

Every saloon door
