Eta Sigma Gamma
This association is most directly related to the discipline of health education.
Mission: to advance the profession by serving health educators and other professional who strive to promote the health of all people through education and other systematic changes

American Association for Health Education (AAHE)
Mission: to provide global leadership to the profession of health education and health promotion and to promote the health of society

Society for Public Health Education Promotion and Education (SOPHE)
Mission: advance professional practice and promote research related to health and physical education, physical activity, dance, and sport
Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE)
These health agencies operate free from governmental interference. They are primarily funded by private donations or membership fees and categorized as voluntary, philanthropic, service, religious, and professional
Nongovernmental
Responsible for creating the Code of Ethics
Purposes: 1) to strengthen communication among the member organizations as well as between the health education profession and policy makers, other professions, and consumers, 2) to develop, implement, and evaluate a shared vision and strategic plan for health education and the health education profession, 3) to educate policy-makers on the need for federal and state public policies that support healthy behaviors and healthy communities, 4) to collaborate on common issues, problems, and concerns related to health education, 5) to increase the visibility of health education profession and its member organizations
Coalition of National Health Education Organizations, USA (CNHEO)
National Commission for Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC)
They are responsible for the individual credentialing of health education specialists.
Mission: to enhance the professional practice of health education by promoting and sustaining a credentialed body of Health Education Specialists
Responsible for CHES and MCHES
These health agencies are so named because they posses characteristics of both governmental and nongovernmental health agencies.
They obtain funding from a variety of sources, such as the United Way, fees for services, donations, and governmental funding
They operate independently of governmental supervision
Ex: American Red Cross
Quasi-governmental
Most of these health agencies have 4 primary purposes: 1) fund research, 2) provide education, 3) provide services, and 4) advocate for beneficial policies, laws, and regulations
