Q

Mendeleev

A
  • Mendeleev arranged his elements in order of atomic mass.
  • This sometimes lead unusual placing of one or two elements because there are isotopes of different element which might distort the mass number, for example Iodine and Trillium.
  • Now we organise our table by atomic number.
  • This resolved all Mendeleevs issues.

A
  • Elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic number, in rows called periods.

Q

Metals

A

Because the periodic table groups together elements with similar properties, all the metals are found on the left of the table and the non-metals on the right. Most elements are non-metals.
