Sociocultural factor
Aspects of society and the social environment that impact on health and wellbeing and overall health status (e.g. Income, education, employment etc).
Health behaviors
An action relating to a person’s health that can have a positive and negative impact on their health and wellbeing and overall health status that can be seen through a person’s actions, attitudes or beliefs about their health and wellbeing (e.g. Being sun smart is a positive health behavior).
List 2 positive and 2 negative health behaviors
Good eating habits, engaging in adequate levels of physical activity; physical inactivity, and poor diet (e.g. Lacking adequate nutrients to fuel the human body).
Family
Two or more persons, one of whom is aged 15 years or over, who are related by blood, marriage (registered or de facto), adoption, step or fostering, and who usually reside in the same household.
List all the sociocultural factors
Family, peer groups, education, income, employment, access to health information, and housing.
Peer groups
A group of people, usually of similar age, background, and social status, with whom a person associates and who are likely to influence the person’s beliefs and behavior (e.g. Co-workers, team members, classmates etc).
Homelessness
An individual is considered to be homeless people having a lack of one a sense of security, stability privacy, safety, and the ability to control their living space.
Employment
An individual undertaking work for pay.
Income
Money received on a regular basis from work or employment.
Access to health information and support services
Refers to a service being geographically, culturally, financially, and physically available to young people.
