Q

give 2 reasons that Christians think that salvation is important?

A

Because you can live an eternal life with God. If you are freed from sin, you have a relationship with God on Earth and an eternal one with God in heaven after death.

Without it, the sins they have might send them to hell or purgatory (if they are catholic). This will prevent them from having a relationship with God and will suffer their sins.
