What is GDP?
The total value of goods and services a country produces in a year
What is GDP per capita?
The GDP divided by the population of a country to show average wealth per person
What does PPP (Purchasing Power Parity) show?
What $1 would buy in each country
What is the Poverty Line?
The minimum income required to meet someone’s basic needs $1.25 per day
What is Safe drinking water as an indicator?
The percentage of the population with access to a clean (piped) water supply within 1km
What is Licteracy rate?
The percentage of the population, aged over 15, who can read and write
How does the corruption index work?
It gives countries a score form 0 to 100, the lower the score the more corrupt the country is
What is the corruption index used for?
Helping investors work out where their money is safe
What is Gross National Income (GNI)?
The total value of goods and services produced by a country in a year including income from overseas
What is Birth Rate?
The number of live babies born per thousand of the population per year
What is death rate?
The number of deaths per thousand of the population per year
What is Fertility Rate?
The average number of births per worman
What is infant mortality rate?
The number of babies per thousand who die before 1 year old
What is maternal mortality rate?
The number of women who die due to pregnancy problems per hundred thousand

The number of working doctors per thousand of the population
