What are the ECDIS Safety Settings and Contours?
A
Shallow Contour: Set at the depth where the vessel will run aground.
Safety Contour: Set at the Vessels Draught + Squat + Required UKC - Tide. The contour which vessel can safely conduct normal operations.
Safety Depth: The Depth below which, navigational features will be highlighted in bold as ‘hazards’ .Eg soundings, wrecks.
Look ahead Safety Settings: A cone whereby alarms will sound for hazardous navigational features: crossing safety contours, caution areas.
