What is bursitis
The inflammation of a bursa, small fluid filled sac that sits between muscles and tendons and bones to restrict friction
Epidemiology and risk factors of bursitis
Acute, chronic or septic
Constant friction, thumping or pressure
Accompanied by tendinitis
Accuse injury or trauma, pushing or pulling heavy items
After a forced period of rest
Underlying rheumatic condition.
Diabetes, Oa or disability of the thyroid gland can be associated
Clinical presentation of bursitis
Depends on the location of the burs
Pain and discomfort in the affected areas
Visible, palpable swelling
Redness and warmth, if the bursa is superificial
Local tenderness or stiffness
Swelling can occur when inflammation to another
