shoulder bursae
subscapular bursae/ scapulothoracic bursa- between the tendon of subscap muscles and the shoulder joint capsule
subdeltoid bursa- between deltoid and shoulder cavity
subacromial bursa- below the acromion process and above the greater tubercle of the humerus
subcoracoid bursa- between the coracoid process of the scap and the shoulder capsule
knee bursa
subcutaneous prepatellar bursa- between the skin and patella
subcutaneous infrapatellar bursa- between skin and tibial tuberosity
deep infrapatellar bursa- between patella ligament and upper tibia
hip bursae
greater trochanter bursa- covers the bony point of the hip bone, inflammation of this bursa is called trochanteric bursitis
iliopsoas bursa- is located on the inside (groin) of the hip
ankle bursae- achilles
Achilles- located between the skin and the posterior aspect of the distal achilles tendon. located superior to the insertion of the achilles tendon. pain from an injury to this bursa will occur along the back of the ankle near the heel
retrocalcaneal bursa
located between the anterior aspect of the achilles tendon and the calcaneous bone. Like the achilles bursa, the retrocalcaneal bursa is located superior to the insertion of the achilles tendon. pain from an injury to this bursa is concentrated at the back of the ankle by the heel
