Muscular system Flashcards
voluntary muscles
striated, under concious control, controlled by somatic nervous system
involuntary
smooth, unconcious, controlled by ANS
cardiac muscle
striated, involuntary, unconciouis control
muscle function
create movement, generate heat, keep body upright against gravity, prevent skeletal system by preventing unwanted movement, stabalise joint with movement
muscle structure
muscle fibres– myofibril– myofilaments
sliding filament theory
occurs within sarcomete
requires calcium and ATP
nervous system causes the myosin head to attach to actin forming cross bridge, myosin head pivot and pull actin towards of sarcomere, process is repeated and myosin attaches further along the actin
