Inspecting heating systems.
Hierarchy of inspection indicators
Types of certificate:
Appliances with ‘open flues’
If the appliance has an open flue, it is necessary to check if it has got an air supply for combustion purposes. This is different from a balanced flue which draws air in directly from the outside
Flueless gas appliances
Flueless gas fires discharge combustion products into the room. Ventilation is very important
Natural draft balanced flue diagram
Natural draft balanced flue is exchange and combustion products through the natural buoyancy of air and I’m not so efficient
Balanced flue – fanned
Find flues push the combustion products away from the boiler and so are usually more efficient
Diagram from part J of the building regulations showing the different minimum separation distances and help natural and fan flues are different
