National assistance act (1948)
This act offers welfare to those who were unable to work including the homeless, disabled and unmarried mothers
The education act of 1944 and implementing it
Creates a tripartite system where everybody has access to education. Grammars schools for those able to pass the eleven plus, secondary modern schools which education the majority of the middle class and technical schools where someone was taught science and engineering
Housing act 1949
This gives local authorises the power to build public sector housing for all income groups (essentially council housing)
National health service act (1946)
Healthcare is universal and available to all. It would offer preventive care, hospital care and mental care. It would be free but paid for by direct taxation
National insurance act (1946)
Introduce unemployment and sickness benefits to all workers. Also set up a state pension to all men over 65 and women over 60
