- carole reported little distress at end of study
- her GAS increased from 19.85-80.15
- her hospitalisation days dropped to 0
- her treatment goal was achieved
strengths and weaknesses of bradshaw (validity)
:) triangulation of data as using multiple measures all suggest she is actually actually improving
:( only quat data though scales don’t know if improving is actually due to therapy
:) accessing therapy is a natural thing to do so high mundane realism increased validity
:) useful as we know cbt is effective for treating cbt
strengths and weaknesses of bradshaw (generalisability)
:( sample is just one female patient with sz -> not a diverse sample so can’t generalise to sz in wider population just because it worked for her doesn’t mean it will for everyone
strengths and weaknesses of bradshaw (reliability)
:) measured used to assess functioning stages of cbt are standardized can be repeated and compared
:( can’t replicate procedure exactly as it is a case study so cant repeat exactly so less reliable
strengths and weaknesses of bradshaw (ethics)
:( may not be able to give full informed consent due to illness
OTOH :) this can be justified as trying to help her
