A

An appellation that spans 5 departments Gironde, the Cognac-producing départements of Charente and Charente-Maritime, Dordogne, and the western part of Lot-et-Garonne. The IGP gives producers from Bergerac to Bordeaux the freedom to produce red, white, and rosé wines from a dizzying array of varieties, from Cabernet Sauvignon to Meunier to Chardonnay. Very few producers are actually within the confines of Bordeaux; more often, Atlantique IGP vignerons are located in the neighboring AOP regions of Bergerac, Duras, or Cognac.

Bordeaux lacks a true dry season and the Medoc experiences more annual rainfall (950 mm) than any other wine region in France

The 45th Parallel runs just north of Boedeaux but the Atlantic gulf stream current brings warm waters up from the Carribean keeps the climate mild. Bordeaux does not experience a large diurnal shift
