When one passes away the first steps should be to
- Close his eyes
- Jaws tied
- Heavy item placed on abdomen
The steps to washing are
- Cover his Awrah
- Squeeze his abdomen gently
- Wrap hand with cloth and wash privates
- Make wudoo for the deceased
- Wash head and beard with soap
- Wash right side, left, then entire body and repeat 3 times
- Dry with cloth
- Perfume the body at places or prostration, and the shroud
- Trim nails and moustache
- Braid woman’s hair in 3 braids
If washing the body 3 times is not sufficient, the washing should increase to what number?
5 or 7 times
a woman is shrouded in what?
5 pieces of cloth 1. A dress 2. Headcover 3. An Izar and 2 shrouds
A man is shrouded in what?
3 white cloths
Who should wash, pray and bury the body for the woman?
- Mother
- Grandmother
- Closest of kin of the related women
Who should wash, pray and bury the body for men?
- The one appointed to do so in the will
- The father
- The grandfather
- Closest of kin
The Imam comes before Father.
How is the prayer performed?
- Takbeer - Al Fatihah
- Takbeer - Blessings on the Prophet
- Takbeer - Dua for deceased
- Takbeer - Tasleem to right

Where should one stand if praying over a woman?
Stands at the middle of the body, with the head on the right side.
Where should one stand if praying over a man?
By his head
What are the mandatory parts of the prayer?
- The takbeers
- Al Fatihah
- Blessings onto the Prophet Muhammad (s)
- Suppplication for the deceased
- Tasleem
If one misses the prayer they may do what
- May pray at the grave for up to one month
2. If the deceased is absent from town he may do it with the intention as if he is in front of them.
When is washing impossible? And what should be done then?
- Lack of water
- Fear of disease
- Woman amongst men/ Men amongst women
Do tayammum
The Martyr is buried how?
He is not washed nor is there a prayer for him. His metal and leath is removed and wrapped in his clothes.
The one in Ihram is buried how?
- Washed with water
- Soap
- Not to be dressed in form fitting clothing or have perfume.
- Head to remain uncovered
- Nails nor hair touched
