Book 2. Chapter 6: Two Prostrations of Forgetfulness Flashcards
Forgetfulness is of three types
- Addition
- Omission
- Doubt
If one adds a raka’ah to the prayer then
The prayer is invalid if done intentionally
and if due to forgetfulness then she must pray the prostration for forgetfulness.
If one is praying and absentmindedly adds an additional raka’ah
He should immediately sit down if he remembers during the raka’ah.
Should one go back if she forgets the first tashahud?
If she is not fully erect then she should go back down
if she is fully erect she should continue.
If one forgets a pillar of a raka’ah before going on to the next one
He should go back and complete that pillar and whatever comes after it, else that raka’ah is invalidated.
If one forgets a sajda in every raka’ah and then comes to tashahud and remembers he should
Prostrate once in order to valid one raka’ah and then pray 3 more raka’at.
If one is confused and doubts whether he missed a pillar then the ruling is,
He has missed that pillar.
Whoever doubts the number of raka’ahs he has prayed
He should proceed on that which is certain, and the Imam goes on that which is probable.
What are the hadith used for daleed for doubting the number of raka’ahs?
Hadith of Abdullah ibn Masud “When one of you has doubts about his prayer, let him seek what is correct.”
Abi Saaid Al Khudri “If one of you has doubts about his prayer, let him cast the doubt away and proceed on the basis of certainty.”
The prostration of forgetfulness should be made before of after?
