What is the timing for Eid?
Sunrise until Sun reaches its zenith
What is the sunnah of eid?
- Perform it in the Musallah (Not necessarily the masjid unless it’s raining)
- Have Eid Al Adha early and Eid al Fitr late (prayers) and to eat breakfast before coming to Eid al Fitr
- Recommended to make ghusl.
Though the hadith mentioning the Prophet (s) making ghusl on eid are weak, the hanbali madhhab still says ghusl should be done, why?
Ibn Umar (ra) who is a companion who embodied the actinos of the Prophet (s) used to do so.
How is the prayer performed?
- 2 raka’ahs
- No Adhan or Iqamah
- First Raka’ah has 7 Takbeers (including opening takbeer)
- Second Raka’ah 5 times (not including the takbeer from rsising from sujud)
- Hands are raised for every takbeer
- Surat Al Fatiha and another long surah
If it is Eid Al Fitr the Imam should focus his sermon on? If it is Eid Al Adha?

As long as he makes it before Tasleem
If one does not make the Eid prayer, what must he do?
He is not obliged to make it up but he may pray it as a superogatory prayer.
When is it recommended to make Takbeer?
- During the nights before the two Eids

When are they days of Tahreeq?
3 days following the 10th day of Dhull Hijjah
What is the form of takbeer according to the hanbali school?
