Summary of Reading
Book two begins in Ithaka’s town square at dawn. Telemakhos speaks angrily to the people of Ithaka about the suitors’ bad behavior towards him and his mother. Zeus responds by sending two eagles as encouragement to Telemakhos and as a warning to the suitors that Odysseus will return. Athena disguises herself as Mentor first, then Telemakhos in order to help Telemakhos get a ship and crew. Telemakhos and his crew then set sail for Pylos at nightfall.
