Book thirteen follows Odysseus when he lands in Ithaka at dawn. Athena once again disguises herself to Odysseus and tells him that he is on the land of Ithaka. Odysseus tells her about his journey and she decides to reveal her identity as the daughter of Zeus, Athena. She instructs Odysseus on what he needs to do and informs him on what has happened on Ithaka while he was away. Odysseus does as she says and at the same time, she parts from Ithaka to Lakedaimon to bring back Telemakhos.
