Two small bones which form the bridge of the nose. Articulates with the frontal bone
Nasal
This bone forms the base of the cranium and it has wing like projections. It articulates with the frontal parietal and temporal bones
Sphenoid
The cheek bones. These irregular bones from the bottom sides of the eye orbit
Zygomatic
This is the upper jaw, containing the upper teeth, the anterior of the roof of the mouth, the orbital cavity and the outer wall of the nasal cavity
Maxilla
A large strong bone, otherwise known as the lower jaw, which forms the chin and sides of the face. It contains the lower teeth and if the only moveable bone in the face
Mandible
Scroll shaped bones which form part of the lateral walls of the nasal cavity. The upper and middle parts are made up of ethmoid bone
Turbinator (inferior concha)
A thin flat bone which separates the nasal cavities and articulates at the top with the ethmoid bone
Vomer
This bone form the forehead and upper eye cavity it is joined to the parietal bone by the coronal suture
Frontal
These bones form the sides and lower part of the cranium; they are positioned below the cranium
Temporal
This bone forms the back of the cranium. It has a large opening called the foramen Magnus through which part of the spinal cord passes through, It articulates with the vertebrae at the condyles of the skull
Occipital
These form the top and sides of the cranium
Parietal
This bone is positioned below the frontal bone and in front of the sphenoid bone. It helps to form the orbital cavity and the nasal cavity
Ethmoid
Very small bones positioned behind and lateral to the nasal bones. They are in the eye socks and contain foramina for the passage of the tear duct (nasolacrimal duct) hence the name
Lacrimal
