Q

What is metallic bonding?

A

It occurs in metals. The atoms are packed tightly in rows to form a metal lattice and their valence electrons become delocalised.

Q

What does it mean by delocalised electrons?

A

They are no longer assiciated with a specific atom and are free. This forms cations and a sea of mobile electrons.
