Bomb Threat Flashcards

1
Q

What levels of bomb warnings are there?

A

OM A 10.1.8
After assessment, the threat will be defined into one of the following categories:
* Category RED: a credible and specific threat requiring immediate protective measures, e.g. diversion/disembarkation.
* Category AMBER: a threat of doubtful credibility, but where it is prudent to consider taking additional protective measures, e.g. additional security search.
* Category GREEN: a threat assessed as non-credible. No immediate action is required.

Notification to Commander:
The Commander will normally only be advised of any threat assessed as RED.
Threats received to an aircraft in-flight can only be assessed as RED or GREEN.
If any threat is assessed as RED or AMBER (ground only), the Commander will be advised on the nature and seriousness of the threat based on the information available.

Q

RED threat what to do, on ground and in air and at stand just before push?

A

OM A 10.1.8.3
ON STAND – RED:
* Disembark all pax and crew with all cabin baggage in controlled circumstances, giving a security problem as the reason for evacuation. Slides to be used in extreme emergencies where steps are not available.
* Remove passengers to an area separated from other passengers.
* Remove aircraft to remote location and quarantine the aircraft. If there is sufficient time before the estimated time of explosion, carry out a search of the aircraft.
* Once an “ALL CLEAR” has been given by the police, carry out a full search of the aircraft and catering and ensure all baggage has been screened again and passengers reconciled to baggage before any re-embarkation is permitted.
TAXYING – RED:
* Taxi the aircraft to some part of the airport away from terminal buildings and evacuate the aircraft in controlled circumstances if at all possible, with identified items of cabin baggage.
IN FLIGHT – RED:
* Declare Emergency – Divert to nearest suitable airfield (civil or military)
* Follow the QRH checklist
* If an immediate landing cannot be made, a search should be conducted and, if a suspicious item is found, the procedures to move the item to the Least Risk Bomb Location (LRBL) should be followed.
* On landing, follow the taxi procedures (above)
