Blood Supply/Meninges Flashcards
1
Q
Meninges
A
Skull -> epidural space -> dura -> subdural space -> arachnoid -> subarachnoid space -> pia
2
Q
Dura
A
outer layer
- attached to skull and arachnoid
- 2 layers fused with exceptions for sinuses
- above cerebrum
3
Q
Arachnoid
A
- delicate, loosely attached
- projections of arachnoid villi pierce dura and protrude into sinus
- allows CSF into sinuses
- subarachnoid hemorrhage = blood on brain, worst kind!
4
Q
Pia
A
- tightly wrapped
- thin
- stuck right to surface
5
Q
BS to Brainstem and Cerebellum
A
Vertebral arteries
6
Q
BS to Cerebral hemispheres
A
- internal carotids and posterior cerebral a
1) Anterior cerebral = frontal lobe
2) Middle cerebral = temporal, parietal
3) Posterior cerebral = temporal, occipital
7
Q
Venous System
A
Drain into dural sinuses -> internal jugular v
- Superficial to deep vv –> sinuses –> drain into internal jugular v
