Blood supply and nerves of hand Flashcards
1
Q
Main arteries forming collateral circulation in hand
A
radial a. and ulnar a.
2
Q
Main nerves forming cutaneous branches of hand
A
ulnar n. and median n.
radial n. for lateral cutaneous dorsal half
3
Q
Deep palmar arch (artery)
A
radial a. and ulnar a.
mainly radial a.
4
Q
Superficial palmar arch (artery)
A
radial a. and ulnar a.
mainly ulnar a.
5
Q
Median nerve innervation in hand
A
forms palmar cutaneous branch
- recurrent branch innervates thenar compartment
- lateral branch to 1st lumbrical
- medial branch to 2nd lumbrical
6
Q
Ulnar nerve innervation in hand
A
forms palmar cutaneous branch
- -dorsal branch sensory to medial/dorsal aspect of hand
- superficial branch to palmaris brevis
- deep branch to hypothenar compartment, adductor compartment, interossei, and lumbricals 3, 4
7
Q
Radial nerve innervation in hand
A
- superficial branch to brachioradialis/extensor carpi radialis longus, skin to lateral half of dorsal aspect of hand
- deep branch to supinator and other superficial extrinsic extensors
- becomes post. interosseous n. at supinator, innervates deep extrinsic extensors
- test at MCP joints
