Blood Immunology Flashcards
Innate immune system
fast, non-specific, no memory formed
Adaptive Immune System
slow, recognizes specific antigens, memories formed
Granulocytes
BEN (all have little granules in them) (grandpa ben) Basophil Eosinophil Netrophil
Agranulocytes
Monocyte, lymphocyte
How to remember all five?
NLMEB (never let my engine blow)
Overview slide (good luck)
CD8
Triggers apoptosis (h8 these cells, kill them)
(MHC 1) (cytotoxic)
CD4
MHC 2
T-Cells start in the ___ and mature in the ____
bone marrow, thymus
B-Cells start in the _____ and mature in the ____
Bone marrow, bone marrow
Antigens generate
antibodies
B-Cells produce..
antibodies
Erythoblastocis
When baby in utero has Rh difference from mom, mom attacks baby in utero
(first baby not affected, since moms body is not ready. After first baby, moms immune system is prepared, can ID another Rh difference baby and attack it)
(rhogam prevents this, given after birth to inhibit development of antibodies)
Rhogam
Prevents erythroblastocis (stops Rh difference antibodies after childbirth)
