What are the two circuits?
Pulmonary circuit
Systemic circuit
What does the pulmonary circuit do?
blood flow between heart and lungs
What does the Systemic circuit do?
Blood flow between heart and body tissue
What happens to the blood when RA contracts?
forces blood through tricuspid valve into RV
What happens to the blood when RV contracts?
Closes tricuspid value and forces blood through the pulmonary semi lunar value into the the pulmonary trunk and then to arteries
What does the pulmonary arteries do?
Carries blood to lungs- into alveoli capillaries( drops of c02 picks up o2)
What does the pulmonary vein do?
takes 02 to the LA
What happens when the LA contracts?
Blood flows through the mitral valve into LV,
What happens with the LV contracts?
closes mitral valve and opens the aortic semi lunar valve and pumps blood to aorta- to the body
What are the first branches after the aorta?
Right and left coronary artery
What happens to the coronary arteries when the ventricles are relaxed?
Blood flow increase through them
What do branches of the coronary artery do?
feed many capillaries in the myocardium
What does connections of azotosomes do?
provide alternative pathways of blood increase a pathway that becomes blocked
What do cardiac veins do?
Drain the blood from the muscle and carry it back to the coronary sinus (large vein that empties into the RA)
