If lymphocytes respond to MHC class 1, what are they and what do they do?

A

CD8 cytotoxic T cells (CTL) that kill other infected cells.

A

CD4 helper cells that respond by secreting cytokines.

Process of T cell recognising MHC and binding:

A

TcR recognises that an antigen has inserted into the groove of the MHC molecule. The antigen binding surface of the TcR binds to top of MHC. T cell remains attached to membrane whole time.
