Blood and Immune [Cell Immunity MHC] Flashcards
1
Q
What are haemopoietic lymphoid precursors?
A
Another name for immature lymphocytes
2
Q
If lymphocytes respond to MHC class 1, what are they and what do they do?
A
CD8 cytotoxic T cells (CTL) that kill other infected cells.
Intracellular, viruses
3
Q
If lymphocytes respond to MHC class 2, what are they and what do they do?
A
CD4 helper cells that respond by secreting cytokines.
Extracellular, bacteria
4
Q
Process of T cell recognising MHC and binding:
A
TcR recognises that an antigen has inserted into the groove of the MHC molecule. The antigen binding surface of the TcR binds to top of MHC. T cell remains attached to membrane whole time.
