What is the role of White Blood Cells?
To fight infection in the body
What is the role of Platelets?
To cause clots at the site of a wound
What is Plasma and what does it do?
Plasma is the fluid of your blood.
It carries the White Blood Cells, Red Blood Cells, nutrients etc.
What is the role of Arteries?
To carry oxygenated blood from the heart around the body
What 2 features do Arteries have to increase pressure?
- A narrow lumen
2. A thick smooth muscle
What is the role of Veins?
To carry de-oxygenated blood from the body to the heart
What do Capillaries do?
They carry nutrients and remove waste products
Why are Capillaries one cell thick?
To allow maximum diffusion
