Define Altitude Engine
Turbo Charged – A reciprocating engine takes intake at sea level and provide that power at another altitude
Define Flight Time
Any time under which the aircraft moves under its own power for the purpose of flight, and ends when it comes to rest after landing.
Define Pilot In Command
Pilot that is:
• Responsible for and authority to operation of the aircraft.
- Has been designated, and
- Appropriate category class rating.
- What is the difference between normal and utility categories? (pt. 23.3)
Normal – Non-aerobatic, maneuvers, stalls, steep turns, no greater bank angle than 60°
Utility - Limited aerobatic maneuvers including spins, and can exceed bank angle greater than 60°
What conditions determine the takeoff and 50 foot speed for a single engine airplane? (pt. 23.51/23.53)
Max takeoff power
Flaps Set to Takeoff
Vr can not be less than Vs1
50 foot speed has to be safe under reasonably safe conditions. Or not more than 1.2 x Vs.
What is the difference in spin recovery requirements between normal, utility and acrobatic airplane categories? (23.221)
1 turn or 3 second spin for Normal
Both requirements for Utility
Any point in a spin up to 6 turns or greater number requested and no more than 1.5 turns to recover Aerobatic
Can your student as a Private Pilot perform preventative maintenance on an airplane? (pt.43.3)
Yes, any preventative maintenance, private pilot or above
Examples of some of the Preventative Maintenance Items:

Replacing fasteners
What is the difference between major repair and preventative maintenance?
Preventative maintenance covers only cosmetic issues and simple lubrication and repair, major repair covers airframe changes, structural items.
