Biology-microscopy (year 9) Flashcards
1
Q
What can microscopes do
A
Let us see things that we cannot see with our eye
2
Q
What are the 2 types of microscopes
A
Light and electron
3
Q
What can light microscopes do
A
use light and lenses to form an image of a specimen and magnify it.
4
Q
What can electron microscopes do
A
use electrons instead of light to form an image. They have a much higher magnification than a light microscope and a higher resolution
5
Q
What is the equation to calculate the magnification of an image
A
Magnification = Image size divided by real size
6
Q
What do you do to calculate the magnification
A
1) rearrange the formula
2) fill in the values you know
3) Remember the units in your answer
4) convert units if necessary
