On top of kidneys
Secretes adrenaline when stressed or fear into blood stream

What does it prep the body for ?

To increase heart rate,
Beats faster? More oxygen and glucose is delivered to brain/muscles
Needed for aerobic respiration
Preps body for fight it flight response.

What does the thyroid gland produce?
What are its 2 effects?
A
Thyroxine
Stimulates basal metabolic rate
Makes chemical reactions take place at a faster rate
Helps with growth and development

How does the thyroid use negative feedback?
A
Brain detects low level of thyroxine
so more TSH is released by the pituitary gland
this triggers more thyroxine into the blood produced by the thyroid.
