What did Kapur find regarding the side effects of drug treaments?

for schizophrenia

  • in order for the drugs to be effective 60-75% of D2 receptors need to be blocked which means important receptors in the brain will also be blocked
  • this results in side effects like involuntary tongue, face and jaw movements (for typical drug treatments)

his patients abruptly stoped taking medications which lead to revolving door syndrome and re-emmergence of symptoms
this shows it’s not long term and therefore my not be stopping the underlying cause
