Binomial Sign Test Flashcards
1
Q
Checklist for binomial sign test:
3
A
- nominal data produced (types of categories)
- repeated measures design
- exploring a difference
2
Q
How to carry out this test (stages):
A
- First column (participant no.), second column (condition A), third column (condition B)
- Add a fourth column at the end (flow of direction). If hypothesis suggests condition A is more likely than Condition B, a YES in condition A is a +
A NO in condition A is a -
Ignore doubles (if 2 out of 10 pps have doubles, you now have 8pps).
3.Find total of - signs and then total of + signs
(Smallest total out of -/+ is the observed value)
4. Find critical value (8pps and 0.05 level of significance)
5. If observed value > than critical
Results are not significant
ACCEPT NULL
3
Q
If the critical value is is bigger than the observed value, are the results significant?
A
Yes, reject null.
4
Q
What happens if both of the conditions have produced a double/ same set of results (yes, yes)?
A
Ignore them, take out this pps from the total of pps (they should not be included in sample anymore)
