Summary of Bilora?

A

Bilora enters talking of the the things he does for love. Pitarro tells him his wife ran away with a stranger, gives him instructions on how to get her back. Bilora talks with Dina (wife) she agrees to come home with him. Dina tells Bilora what to do to talk to the old man, Andronico. Pitarro goes and talks to Andronico while Bilora hides, they agree to ask Dina what she wants. She says she wants to stay with Andronico. Pittaro and Bilora are upset, Pittaro warns Andronico. Later Andronico leaves the house and Bilora kills him without at first realizing that he has killed him.

A
  • Theme: battle between the sexes (men and women cheating, married quareels, lovers spats)
  • nuptials at end are very typical of comedy
  • element of disguise found in Silvia as Lesbino
  • the portrait is the unifying device, what happens to it is ultimately never discovered
