Topical admin to eye, no local anesthetic properties, systemic absorption may cause bronchoconstriction.

Propanolol

A

B1/B2 blocker: slows HR, dec contractility, dec Renin release
Oral administration, Extensive 1st pass loss, 3.5-6 hr half life, metabolized in liver. May cause sedation/depression due to CNS effect, decrease hepatic gluconeo/glycogenolysis
Drug interactions: Cimetidine and Chloropromazine (dec metabolism/inc duration), Barbituates/Rifampin/Phenytoin (inc metabolism/dec effectiveness), Ca channel blockers (additive effects)
Treat HTN, Angina, dec mortality post MI, arrhythmia.
