A

a person may start as a result of associating gamb with sociable, relaxing environment and may lead to someone gamb as they associate it with pos feelings of excitement

OC-
if they win whilst gamb they may gamble again to experience that reward again and excitement of winning
partial reinforcement: not winning all the time know you are due a win

SLT-
do not need to exp directly exp consequences of behav but can learn through observing others eg role models
may observe someone gamb and finding it rewarding so they try it themselves

A

associate gamb with pos feelings so keep gambling to experience those feelings

partial reinforcement/OC-
gamb dont win all the time but the infrequency of winning maintains gamb behav if they won everytime the urge wouldnt be so strong however ocassional means they can go a long time without a win and still have to urge because they know they will be rewarded in the future

Relapse?

A

neg reinforcement-
by relapsing into gambling symptoms they report as a form of withdrawal symptoms are removed these neg feelings would be removed by gambling
may believe they can remove built up debt by gamb

cue reactivity paradigm-
material associated with gamb in all around us eg lottery scratch card casinos
gamblers attempting to stop are contantly surrounded by reminders which can be sufficience to generate feelings associated with gamb

Paul found 20% of teenage gamblers have contemplated suicide. Means you must be careful studying gamb because they are a vulnerablility group and should be dealt with sensitively
