Greek civilizations surround Aegean–connector, expands to find good land–Italy is Magna Graecia
Minoan
fl 2000-1500. Linear A, Crete, trade increased, palaces like Knossos
Mycenean
fl 1400-1200. Mycenae (Pelopennesus). based off minoans. Linear B. tablets found at Pylos, a fortress on coast of Pelopennesian.
Dark Age
1100-750. 1200 people migraet, bronze age ends, no written records. Pylos destroyed 1200 bc, Linear B forgotten.

700s, wrote about stuff before dark ages.

unreliable stories.

how much truth to Iliad and Odyssey? Excavated Mycenae and Troy (found in 1871). There is some truth–Troy is on Hellespont, sacked in 1250. written because it was last glory of Mycenaeans before dark ages
