Positive Command
e.g. إضْرِبْ - Hit, إجْلِسْ - Sit
نَهْيٌ
Negative Command
e.g. لا تَجْلِسْ - Do not sit, لا تَقْتُلْ - Do not kill
إسْتِفْهَامٌ
Interrogative (Question)
The question’s answer can be true or false but not the question itself
e.g هَلْ ضَرَبَ زَيْدٌ؟ - Did Zayd hit?
تَمَنِّيْ
Desire
Used for when we wish for something unattainable
e.g. لَيْتَ اَلشَبَابَ عَائِدٌ - I wish youth would return
تَرَجِّيْ
Hope
Used for when we wish for something attainable
e.g. لَعَلَّ اَلْإمْتِحَانَ صَعْبٌ - Hopefully the exam will be hard
نِدَاءٌ
Exclamation
e.g. يَا زَيْدٌ - O Zaid
عَرْضٌ
Request
These are mere requests, i.e questions in which no answer is anticipated
e.g. ألَا تَأْتِيْنِيْ فَأُعْطِيَكَ دِيْنَارًا - Will you not come to me so I may give you a dinaar?
