What is the aim of the study?
A
- To investigate are whether exposure to a real life aggressive model increases aggression in children.

- 48 girls and 48 boys aged from 35-69 months
- mean age = 52 months
- they recruited from Standford University

What was the procedure of the experiment?
A
- The ppts were divided into 3 experimental groups and 1 control group.
- The controls were not exposed to violence.

- All 4 groups of the children were placed in a room full of toys including the bobo doll whether they could play freely.
- The researcher observed the children and noted any interactions with the Bobo doll.

A
- They watched a real life male/female models becomes aggressive towards the Bobo Doll.

A
- They watched a ten minute film of male/female models become aggressive to the Bobo dolls.

A
- They watched a cartoon version of a female model dressed as a cat became aggressive towards the Bob doll.

What were the results?
A
- Children expose to the aggressive behaviour exhibited nearly twice as much aggressive behaviour as the control group.
- The Boys exhibited more total aggression than girls. Boys exposed to the male models showed significantly more aggressive gun play than boys exposed to the female model.
- Gender model and sex appropriateness of behaviour is an important factor.

What were the conclusions?
A
-The findings support the idea that children learn social behaviours through the process of observation learning - through the process of observation learning - through watching the behaviour of another person.
