Tx: Combination therapy : Doxy and rifampin

Tx: Strepto and TCN

No rash!

Serology:
acute: Phase II Ag (IgM, IgG)
chronic: Phase I and II ab. I»II
Bartonella henselae
Cats and fleas
Cat scratch disease - immunoCOMPETENT
- Children
- Chronic regional lymphadenopathy (sentinal node)
may see prolonged fever w/ no source
Bacillary angiomatosis - ImmunoCOMPROMISED
IgG titer
self-limited. Use Azithro if Tx needed
Avoid surgical drainage!
Animal bite
mouth flora
cats more so than dogs
puncture wounds.
Irrigate and debridement of the wound
don’t dose!
Pasteurella
Fermentative, G- coccobacilli
P. multocida - cat saliva
P. canis - dog saliva
rapid dev of cellulitis after bites (w/in 24 hrs)
osteomyelitis also possible
Tx: PCN w/ beta- lactamase (Amoxicillin-clauvulanic)
Capnocytophaga canimorsus
cats/dogs
G- fusiform bacilli
Eikenella Corrodens
Human bites/fist fights
found in human oropharynx
G- rods
HACEK
Corrodes agar, bleach smell
