how do plants use glucose

A
  • can be used in respiration to release energy
  • some glucose is converted into starch for storage. Starch is compact and insoluble. This means that it does not cause cells to gain or lose water by osmosis.
  • some glucose is converted into cellulose, which strengthens cell walls. Some is converted into fats and oils, which are often used as energy storage in seeds
