What is a non-communicable dieseases?
Diseases that you cant catch eg. Cancer
What is a communicable disease?
A disease you can catch eg. a cold or HIV. They are caught by bacteria, viruses and fungi
What is a pathogen?
Microorganisms that enter the body and cause diseases
What might be some risk factors for communicable diseases?
Having a weakened immune system might me make you prone to catching influenza as your body is not able to fight off aganist the pathogens in your body
What risk factors might cause a non-communicable disease?
Smoking because it damages the walls of arteries and the lining of the lungs. Cancer can be caused due to exposure to substances and radiation eg ionising radiation of x rays.
What is a benign tumour?
The more ‘pleasant’ tumour. It stays in one place rather than invading the tissues in the body.
What are malignant tumours?
Malignant tumours are much more unplesant.they invade and spread to neighbouring healthy tissue.
Name 3risk factors that increases your chance of having cancer
Smoking as it damages lining of the lungs
Obesity
UV exposure and radiation from the sun and using sun beds.
What are tumours the result ot?
