Advantages:

  • easy to catch
  • cheaper
  • less predators
  • less need to fish wild stock, numbers can recover

Disadvantages
-fish close together, diseases can spread quickly

A

Structure where plants can be grown under controlled conditions

Advantages:

  • manipulate environment, grow crops all year
  • disease can be treated/controlled
  • pesticides + fertilsers kept inside, do not escape into environment
  • can be placed all round UK, do not need to import from abroad

Expalin hydroponics + advantages and disadvantages

A

Growing plants in greenhouses without soil. Their roots are sprayed with a solution that contains the minerals they need.

Advantages:

  • can be grown in areas with poor soil
  • better use of space
  • water recycled, reduces waste

Disadvantages

  • plant is not supported at the roots- tray/frame needed
  • fertilisers needed to be added constantly because no soil
