Q

Explain how increase in temperature affects transpiration.

A

The higher the temperature, the faster the particles in the air will move. This means that water molecules move faster and evaporate from the leaf quicker- rate of transpiration will increase.

Q

Explain how increased air movement effects transpiration.

A

When air moves over the leaf, it mobes evaporated water molecules away from the leaf.

Faster air movement, quicker the water moved. Increases the diffusion of water out of the leaf, because water molecules do not build up in the air outside the leaf.

Concentration of water outside leaf- low
Concentration gradient high between inisde of leaf and outside- rate of transpiration increases.

Q

Explain how decreased humidity effects transpiration

A

Less humidity in the air, less water there is in it.

Greater concentration gradient betweeen inside and outside of leaf. Water molecules will diffuse out more quickly- increased rate of transpiration.
