AW139 PTS - Main/Tail Rotor Flashcards
What is the Main Rotor Diameter and what is its D value?
45.27ft (13.8m)
D value 55ft (17m)
What are the Main and Tail Rotor types?
Both are fully articulated.
During the pre-flight how do you know if the dampeners are good?
By checking the fluid level indicator on dampener.
should have a yellow/white band aligned with the reference line
What is a flapper limiter?
Engaged/disengaged by centrifugal forces, it prevents excessive flapping.
What is the purpose of the ring around the mast?
And why does it need grease?
They are droop stops,
stops the blades hitting the airframe at low RPMs
It needs grease because the blades rub on the ring during the control pre-flight check.
What are the limitations if we want to use AEO power index in the yellow?
100% Max Cont
110% 5 min (<90kts)
121% for 5 secs
What is the IFR Vmini
50kts
What is the minimum autorotation speed?
40kts
What is the maximum airspeed for opening/closing the doors?
80kts for opening or closing
Max both locked open - 80kts
Max with only right open - 100kts
What is the wind speed limitation for starting/stopping the rotors?
And what’s the logging windspeed?
60kts for starting/stopping
all above 33kts need to be logged in log book
Does the main transmission have chip detectors?
If yes, how many?
5
3 Chip detectors (1 MAST and 2 in the sump) in main transmission
1 in the IGB
1 in the TRGB
How is the main transmission lubricated and cooled?
Internal oil system distributed by 2 oil pumps in the sump.
Passes through pressure relief and check valves.
Passes through a filter (with bypass)
Cooled by mechanically driven fan and oil cooler matrix.
Delivered via spray system to mast bearings, accessory and tail rotor drives, main rotor gears and input gearboxes.
What kind of indications do we have to monitor MGB/IGB/TGB?
MGB Temperature & Pressure (+CAS Messages)
IGB and TGB Temperature (+CAS Messages)
Can you Chip burn fuzz?
Yes - with chip burn button
Permitted 3 times on a flight - on 4th indication LASAPrac
Can you mix approved oils listed on the RFM?
Not recommended
