Perception of threat leads to verbal-linguistic worrying instead of mental imaging.
Worrying verbally inhibits mental/somatic/emotional activation to emotionally process and habituate to the threat.
Worrying verbally is seen as positive mechanism bc they feel like they are doing something with it. namely worrying
