Automatic Flight & Landing Gear and Brakes Flashcards
Automatic Flight Control System (AFCS) components
1 Flight Guidance Control Panel (FGCP)
2 Flight Guidance Modules (FGM 1, FGM 2)
1 Yaw Damper Actuator Unit (YDAU)
2 Autopilot Actuator Units (APAU 1, APAU 2)
Describe the job of the Flight Guidance Modules (FGM 1, FGM2).
provides data processing for:
FD commands, AP and YD actuator commands, pitch trim system commands
How many FGMs are required for AP, YD, and FD functions?
Both are required to perform AP and YD functions, one is required for FD
What does the YD pushbutton do?
engages or disengages the YD, disengages the AP
What does the AP pushbutton do?
engages the AP and YD, disengages the AP
What happens when you push the GA pushbutton?
AP disengages, FD commands 10 degree pitch, FD commands wings level, all “armed” FD modes are disarmed
AP engagement is inhibited when?
YD fail, roll exceeds 45 degrees, pitch exceeds 20 degrees
What ways can the AP be disengaged?
AP DIS button on yoke, Go-around buttons, operating electric pitch trim, AP pushbutton on FDCP, YD pushbutton on FDCP
Describe the function of the Autopilot Pitch Trim feature.
automatic pitch trim when AP is engaged to reduce force held by AP pitch servo
The AP Pitch Trim functions at what two speeds?
high speed for CAS below 180 kts
low speed for CAS above 180 kts
Describe the function of the Flap Auto Pitch Trim feature.
serves to reduce mistrim control column force during flap transitions when the pilot is manually flying the aircraft
The Flap Auto Pitch Trim feature automatically engages under what conditions?
airborne for two seconds, CAS less than 180 kts, AP not engaged, not operating Manual Pitch Trim, flaps moving between 15 and 35 or 35 and 15.
Degrees of Yaw Damper authority
mechanically limited to +-4.5 degrees of rudder displacement and limited in software as a function of airspeed
What monitors and controls the operation of the landing gear components?
Proximity Sensor Electronics Unit (PSEU)
Which direction do the landing gear extend and retract?
nose gear - extends aft and retracts forward
main gear - extends forward and retracts aft
