Q

How is independent flight director operation indicated?

A

Independent operation is indicated by the Illumination of both MA lights.

When independent ops terminates, the MA light remains ill’ only on the master
F/D side

-Each FCC is controlling modes for related F/D

Q

What would cause the A/P to disengage?

A
  • Pushing Disengage
    switch (control yoke).
  • Control column or wheel
    force override.
  • Pushing an illuminated
    A/P Engage switch.
  • Pushing the A/P
    Disengage bar down.
  • Activating either trim
    switch.
  • Moving the STAB TRIM
    PRI or B/U to CUTOUT.
  • Either left or right IRS
    system failure or FAULT
    light illuminated.
  • Loss of electrical power
    or a sensor input which
    prevents proper
    operation of the engaged
  • Loss of respective
    hydraulic pressure.

“other” various scenarios:

  • Pushing TO/GA in CWS or
    CMD below 2000’ RA.
  • Pushing TO/GA
in CWS or CMD at and
    above 2000’ RA with flaps
    extended or G/S
    engaged.
  • One second after
    stick shaker in ALT
    HOLD, VNAV PATH
    (in a level segment),
VNAV PATH (flaps 15 or >), V/S (flaps 15 degrees or >), or G/S (single channel only) modes.
    o five minutes after
    continuous stick
shaker if not in one of
    the above modes.
  • Five minutes after
    continuous activation of
    stick shaker if the
    autopilot has been re-
    engaged.
  • Pushing either TO/GA
    switch with a dual
    channel auto-pilot
    engaged after
    touchdown.

Q

When will the STAB OUT OF TRIM light illuminate?

A

Only with the Autopilot engaged and:
-The autopilot is not trimming the stabilizer correctly.
OR
- A partial failure of an FCC. Should failure occur in flight, the light illuminates after landing when ground speed
< 30 kts

Q

What does a flashing amber A/T alert light indicate?

A

Indicates an A/T airspeed error where airspeed differs from commanded value by +10 knots or – 5 knots and is not approaching commanded value in flight with flaps not fully up
(flaps extended)

Q

Which system provides the N1 limit for the A/T?

A

The A/T system operates properly with the EECs ON or in ALTN. In either case, the A/T uses the FMC N1 limits.

During A/T operation, it is recommended that both EECs be ON or both be in ALTN, as this produces minimum thrust lever separation.

Q

How is LOC and GS modes armed?

A

By selecting the APP button on the MCP.

The APP switch ill’ green and:
roll mode = VOR/LOC armed
pitch mode = G/S armed

Q

When is an altitude deviation alert provided?

A

When deviating by 200 feet from the selected altitude.

The amber flashing continues until:
*altitude deviation becomes less than 200 ft
*altitude deviation becomes more than 900 ft
*a new altitude is selected

16
Q

On a go-around with the auto-throttle armed, after the first push of either TO/GA switch. the thrust levers advance to a reduced go-around N1, to produce what rate of climb?

A
  • 1000 to 2000 feet per
    minute.
  • Two pushes of the TO/GA
    switch will produce Full
    go-around N1 limit.
17
Q

On a single-engine go-around, a push of either TO/GA switch will command an initial pitch of how many degrees nose up?

A

If single engine, the FD pitch commands 13° nose up. As

18
Q

What occurs in minimum speed reversion?

A

Simply put, “A/P and FD command min speed for current flap configuration” (1.3 Vs)

Minimum speed, FMC speed or selected speed whichever is higher becomes the FMS commanded speed.

AFS commands a speed 5 kts > than minimum speed. Reaching > 5 kts, speed reactivates normal MCP speed selection control

19
Q

What will disengage the A/T system?

*Question not in back of chapter

A

*Moving the A/T ARM switch to OFF
*Pushing either A/T Disengage switch
*An A/T system fault is detected
*Two seconds after landing touchdown
